Love on Grace Bay Beach
Kim and Ben’s Big Day on Grace Bay
It was another perfect day in Turks & Caicos. Kim and Ben’s special day began with some of the best weather conditions I had seen in the islands as of late, with super calm waters and barely any wind, perfect for Kim’s cathedral veil. I started with the girls who were all excited and starting things off right with glasses of champagne, laughter, and music. Kim was beaming and practically glowing before she even got into her gown. Kim lucked out with a top-floor bridal suite at the West Bay Club with a beautiful view of the ocean that we simply had to use for some of her portraits. She looked absolutely stunning against a perfect background. All of her friends and family joined her and kept her in high spirits throughout the preparations phase as I snapped away memory after memory. It’s always nice to work with such a loving group of people; everything just flows and unfolds perfectly in front of the lens, I hardly have to do any work!
Eventually I made my way over to the guys. While the girls were lively and excitedly running around in a happy chaos, the guys were on the contrary much more relaxed, and subdued. They all seemed to be enjoying their shared memories and experiences together silently with casual glances and chuckles. I always love the contrasting dynamics between the girls and guys. I brought everyone out to the balcony for some group shots and a few quick portraits of Ben, who quickly opened up with huge smiles. He did his best to hide it, but he was a little bit nervous, you could tell. On wards to the ceremony, everything started without a hitch. The processional was elegant and emotional; hardly anyone could contain their tears, including Ben!
The pastor was very kind and did her best to bring as much levity as possible to the ceremony, inciting laughter from almost everyone. Kim’s mother was very emotional and had barely a second of time when she wasn’t full of tears. It was a beautiful ceremony and led to a near-perfect portrait session with Ben & Kim. I still couldn’t get over just how clear and calm the conditions were and we took advantage of them all the way until the sun dipped and hit the horizon. The emotions continued into the reception with tear-filled speeches, toasts, and what appeared to be a professionally choreographed first-dance with Kim & Ben. After a few words from the hosts themselves, everyone sat down to a tranquil fire-lit dinner on the beach. As I walked around gathering my final shots of the night, Kim & Ben kissed as if on queue- giving me one of my favorite shots from the night at their table. I wish the best for them and can’t wait to meet with them again for their wedding anniversary back in the Turks & Caicos islands!
