Wedding and Trash the Dress Session on Taylor Bay
Taylor Bay is a Gorgeous Secluded Beach in Turks
Christine and Paul’s wedding came unexpectedly when Paradise Photography received a “last minute” call several days before their wedding day. Apparently, the original wedding photographer was unable to make the event. So, Nila Destinations called me to see if I was available. I was free and met with Christine and Paul to talk about the vision of their wedding day and to seal the deal.
Their wedding photography started during the preparation stage at beautiful Villa Coyaba on Taylor Bay on the south side of Providenciales. As is common among most modern wedding couples, Christine and Paul did their “first look” before the ceremony in their villa. Afterwards, I took them on a tour of the villa to shoot in all of the great angles and spaces inside and outside of the house. Villas are a great place to have any part of a wedding day because the architecture is usually very interesting. Spaces like these also help to create variety in a couple’s wedding story- a story that is usually the typical beach look that is so common among tropical caribbean destination wedding events.
Taylor Bay beach is a beautiful, often unoccupied beach that faces due south. The water is very shallow, especially at low tide; and as a result, the color is always a light blue/green. Christine and Paul wanted to capture these colors after I was finished photographing them at the villa. So, I took them for some playful beach photos before the ceremony started. After their short and intimate beach ceremony under a pine tree, we walked to the western edge of the beach and found a colorful, derelict boat to use as a shooting backdrop. The boat looked as if it had been washed up on the beach by one of the recent hurricanes. It made for a perfect contrast with the white sand and blue water. We also found some very gnarly limestone rocks to use in their sunset portraits. Christine was so excited about the photo session that as we were heading back to Villa Coyaba she decided to trash the dress and get in the water for what turned out to be one of the best sunset images of her wedding. No guts, no glory. Way to go Christine!!!
