Family Portraits at The Sands on Grace Bay
This year in Turks and Caicos the weather has been truly unpredictable. The Goldkamps had originally scheduled our portrait session for a couple days earlier but ended up moving it due to an unusual amount of rain that day. On the new day of the shoot, the morning looked dreary and gray, possibly even worse than the day we had originally scheduled. But eventually and very thankfully, the rain did come to a halt and the unique weather conditions produced beautiful conditions for our photo shoot!
The Sands has some great garden areas for portraits, however the Goldkamps really wanted to make sure they had great beach material so we decided to conduct the entire session on the beach. Of course nobody had any complaints about this! Grace Bay beach is always perfect for pictures. Celeste was initially worried that her kids were not big fans of pictures, but they ended up having a blast. As soon as children realize they get to run around and smile for an hour on the beach, they realize the picture session is not going to be nearly as much work as they thought! We walked a pretty good ways up the beach towards the east where there is more natural seagrass and wider humps of sand. Some of everyone’s favorite pictures from the session were those we took from behind the entire family in the thickets of seagrass shooting out towards the ocean.
Half-way through the session the kids really wanted to let out some energy, so the parents took a break and the kids instead did some shots running at breakneck speed along the coast. With an incredible sun-ray shooting across the sky, these images looked like something out of a fairy tale! With the kids energy spent, everyone gathered together for a few last group shots as the sunset came to an end. In the end we all agreed that the hour of pictures was worth the suspenseful wait!
