The Chawla family came to the Turks and Caicos for a short trip to escape the winter cold of New York. One of their top things to do was to update their family photos as the kids were at a great age and growing so fast. They were only here for a few days and therefore had lots of activities scheduled so we made it a priority to fit them in for beach family portraits.
Little did they know when they booked their photo session that they would be running late due to their boat excursion ending later in the day. It’s always tricky doing pictures on the day of a boat trip because it can be a tight turnaround with getting off a boat and then getting a family of four dressed and ready for a sunset portrait session.
Family Photos on the Beach
By the time we met in the lobby of the Ritz Carlton resort, we had less than thirty minutes before the light ended. Knowing how important lighting is for good photos we did a quick consultation and decided not to waste any of the good light by starting photos directly on the beach to get the best water color. Normally, we start sessions in the garden areas of the resort, but part of the professional photographer’s job is to know lighting and when to change things up to make sure our clients get the best possible photos based on the weather conditions of the day.
Even though we had a shorter-than-normal session, we used the time wisely. Moreover, having an experienced photographer who knows how to work under time constraints and knows how to quickly work through natural posing to get gorgeous life-like images makes all the difference. We are so happy the Chawlas made the time to create beautiful photo memories during their family vacation!
