Ruby and her family had traveled from British Columbia and chose to stay at Ocean Club East resort on Grace Bay beach. In careful preparation for the photo shoot, Ruby packed some beautiful coordinating outfits for her daughter, husband and herself.
Planning Family Vacation Photos
We met just outside the lobby of the resort and discussed how the session would go and the combination of images they wanted. Ruby was excited and said how much she loves having her picture taken, she’d been looking forward to this as a highlight of their trip. Family photos of course were the top priority, however it had been a while since Ruby and Dave had had any couple photos taken of them too, so this was equally important. Also, as this was just a small family of three people, they also wanted some individual photos of each of them too.
Dressing for Beach Portraits
The clothing Ruby had selected was just gorgeous; she wore a long elegant blush gown with very lightweight flowing skirt and sparkle on top, which was perfect on her. Her daughter had a similar coloured sparkly pink dress which was very sweet together for the mother-daughter photos.
What you choose to wear for your beach portrait session can really make a difference to how you feel whilst having your pictures taken, and this in turn, can affect how your pictures turn out. The family looked amazing in their outfits and it emanated through to the happy, genuine expressions and smiles on their faces.
As it was pretty bright to begin with, we started in the lush resort grounds with some shade and greenery. We then made our way to the beach for the majority of the session, and they had said they would like to end with getting wet on the edge of the waves. This is always fun to capture and a great way to finish a vacation portrait session.
As the sun got lower in the sky, the outfits blended really well against the sunlight. We were lucky that the evening was perfectly still and the light got softer and softer as time went by. The photos are beautiful and it was certainly a fun, family portrait session to remember!
