Parallel 23 and The Palms
Lauren and Jason’s Pretty Palms Wedding
The Turks and Caicos Islands are becoming more and more renowned for destination weddings and honeymoons alike. Lauren and Jason decided they would do both in our island paradise! During our initial consultation I always try to get to know a little of my clients’ personalities so I can strategize how I will stylize and pose them during their portraits. Jason had a very quiet but confident stature, while Lauren was more bubbly and full of smiles. I could instantly tell that their chemistry would show without any effort in their portraits. I started with the bride as I often do in her softly-lit suite at The Palms. Lauren and Jason’s wedding was not large by any means, so there weren’t any official brides maids or groomsmen outside of their direct siblings and family. Instead it was just Lauren, her sister, and her two parents. I love settings like this where there is a constant flow of emotion for me to photograph.
When it came time to get into her gown, Lauren looked absolutely stunning in it. We posed her similar to fine-art Greek sculpture by the sun-lit windows and she really looked the part! Her sister and mother were fighting back tears the whole time. Jason’s suite was even more quiet, with just one of his cousins hanging out and keeping him company. He was cool and collected, and we took some quiet portraits on his balcony before heading off to the first-look. We selected a space just above the Parallel 23 restaurant. The terrace was very private and devoid of any other onlookers. It was here that Lauren and Jason saw each other for the first time. They immediately embraced and wouldn’t let go! We eventually took a beautiful series of garden portraits before heading off to yet another perfect grace bay beach wedding ceremony.
With the hard part over, we tackled some fun family portraits as fast as we could so we could continue taking more stunning bride and groom photos on the beach. There was not as much of a sunset with the cloud conditions, so we got creative and instead did a really unique blue-lit finishing image for their wedding album. Lauren had mentioned just how much she loved the blue tones of the water so I selected a lighting color that matched our turquoise waters. The result was incredible! At this point we headed back to the reception for relaxed cocktails, emotional speeches, and some free-spirited dancing. Everyone was having a great time and I am so glad I was able to document their incredible evening together.
