Sometimes the camera angle makes all the difference in creating an impactful photo. And as creative image makers we are always looking for a way to tell our story in a new and fresh angle. The unique perspective that a drone can provide is a popular way to enhance your photo experience in the Turks and Caicos. It takes skill to fly a drone, deal with the wind and come up with create ideas for our subjects at the same time. We also get to know our clients and what they want, so we can pick a location that will work best for what they are wanting. For example, if our clients want to get fully in the water, we need to look areas that will be shallow and calm. If the waves and surf are higher on the day of the photos, we often adjust where we need to go and how we position our clients so they don’t get too wet if they are wanting to stay dry or do an outfit change.
A Very Popular Request for Couples and Families
Drone photography sessions can be done as their own session or to enhance a regular portrait session. For example, sometimes a couple will do an extended portrait session with additional time to do a combination of still photos and also drone. It’s a chance to go to different locations and get different backdrops for the photos. Most clients who want drone choose to go to a secluded beach or a different location than their resort. It’s a way to have a different background and also have less people in the photos. Families who are staying at villas often like to have the drone photography done where they are staying because it’s a chance to also show their villa. If you’re wanting to have a photo for your wall, a drone angle is always a favorite!
Tell your Story in a New and Unique Way
In addition to ground-based photography, many of our clients want that unique high angle perspective that only a flying drone can deliver. One of the most important things to consider as a pilot-photographer is how to compose the image and how to pose your subjects. Because the camera angle is so high, your subject oftentimes needs to be lying flat on the ground rather than standing up. Also, it’s important to compose the image in a more graphical nature. For example, a long dock or an unusual rock and shore-line formation will help to create a powerful scene within which your subjects should be placed. Another very useful trick is to position large groups in easily recognizable and distinctive graphical formations, like circles, T-formations or spiral formations.
