Grand Turk is the Capital of Turks and Caicos
Destination Wedding in Grand Turk is Gorgeous
Grand Turk is normally associated with quick cruise-ship-style weddings that normally take place shortly after a couple arrives to this seven square mile island. The ship pulls into port, the travelers disembark, and within an hour the bride and groom are going down the proverbial sandy isle. Well, being a non traditional couple who wanted to invest in something different, Noelle & Edwin decided to quietly get married in their home town of San Marcos, California and then celebrate their honeymoon on a Caribbean cruise with a stop over in the Turks and Caicos island capital of Grand Turk. So, rather than do a vow renewal, they decided to find the best Turks and Caicos wedding photographer and to do photo shoot in their wedding attire.
Paradise Photography is based on the Providenciales. So, when a couple wants to do a wedding, or trash the wedding dress, or couples photo session on Grand Turk, we have to fly over to Grand Turk to do the shoot. I took the early 8:30 am flight to Grand Turk. The weather leading up to the shoot was rainy and not looking good. When I arrived at 9 am the skies were grey and within an hour later it was raining cats and dogs. It was raining so hard that it looked like blizzard-like white out conditions. I thought the shoot was going to be a total wash. Well, as we say at Paradise, “if you don’t like the weather now, just wait 30 minutes”. And that is exactly what happened.
At 11 am just as the Carnival Cruise ship came into dock, the clouds parted, the sky opened up, and the sun came out and staid out until the shoot was over. What a stoke of luck! Well not really. The Turks and Caicos is a special place that rarely rains for more than an hour before it stops. And that is exactly what happened for Noelle and Edwin. I took the lovely couple to some of my favorite spots on Donkey Island. I say “Donkey Island” because Noelle and Edwin got lucky to find a few of the four-hundred or so ferule donkeys that give Grand Turk its nick name. The shoot went very well, all things considered. The weather was perfect, the water crystal clear, and the couple happy to have taken some very memorable images in paradise.
