A Memorable Proposal
Evan is not very different from most guys that are ready to pop the question in the Turks and Caicos. Like most men in his position, Evan didn’t want his Turks and Caicos marriage proposal photographer anywhere around when he popped the question to his long-time girlfriend, Christine. I tried convincing him to make up a story that would allow me to be present at the magical moment. Otherwise, there are so many things that can go wrong as we later found out! My usual suggestion is to invent a story that the Palms resort had given the lucky couple a complimentary photo session as part of a COVID-19 incentive. However, Evan was confident that all would go well if I just posed as a tourist on the beach with a camera in-hand at the moment he dropped to a knee. I finally conceded and said that I would be waiting on the beach at the Palm’s “west deck”. Well, as we later discovered Evan accidentally interpreted “west deck” as “west dock”. Because Beaches Turks and Caicos resort had a dock within eye sight one quarter of a mile down the beach, Evan walked right past me and disappeared down the beach toward the dock! When he got there, he found what looked like his photographer. Beaches Resort has their own staff photographers who take free sunset photos for their guests. Evan thought he found the right place and person, only to discover much to his surprise that after taking the official proposal photo his photographer walked away to service other guests. At that moment, I texted him asking why he walked away and to where he and Christine had disappeared. I instructed him to return to the Palms where I was anxiously waiting. They finally returned to my location where we finally got started on their photo session. In the end, this turned out to be a very memorable story that both Evan and Christine would cherish forever.
