Angela reached out to schedule family portraits because her entire family was coming to Turks and Caicos and staying at the beautiful Wymara Villas. She and her brother were bringing their families and their mom on a Caribbean vacation. When I arrived to meet them, we did a consultation to make sure we would get the photos they each wanted during the one hour session. We agreed to do lots of different combinations of the full family together and each sub family. I also made sure to do individual pictures of each of the children with their parents as well as all the cousins together. Angela’s mother, known as Nana, had limited mobility so we were careful to make sure things were easy for her.
Photos in the Villa Courtyard
The Wymara Villas are located on the south side of the island and have a lovely courtyard which is the ideal spot to begin any photo session. The light is beautiful and it’s very serene with the waterfall pool and lush green vegetation. It’s also shaded from the direct sun and there’s very little wind. Moreover, it’s a chance to incorporate the beautiful stone work of the villa into the pictures as a memory of the beautiful location. One of my favorite photos was her sitting on one of the lounges surrounded by her granddaughters and the rest of the family behind them.
Photos at the Beach Club
Wymara Villas has a new beach club which is perfect for sunset photos. The friendly villa staff arranged golf carts to transport everyone down the hill to the beach for sunset. Once there, we did another full group photo at sunset and then we let Nana rest. She watched as we took beach portraits of each family all the way through to twilight. The water color was beautiful so we made sure to feature it in the background of as many photos as possible. Some of my favorites were of Angela and her family holding hands walking along the shoreline.
Family portrait sessions in villas are very popular with many tourists as it’s a time when the entire family can be together. Angela said it had been over a decade since they had all got together and had pictures taken. It’s so important that when a family unites they can have lifelong memories of the love and special relationship between everyone. We are so happy that Angela reached out and we were able to photograph her lovely family.
