There is something incredibly special about a second wedding, especially one where two families are becoming one. It is not just a couple starting a life together. It is two households, two sets of kids, two histories, choosing to build something new as a family. That is exactly what we witnessed when Kristin and JB traveled from Texas to Turks and Caicos to get married, surrounded only by their daughters and one close friend.
Kristin had a daughter of her own. JB had two girls. For both of them, this wedding was never going to be about a big guest list or a long program. It was about the people who mattered most standing together on an island, sharing the moment where their two families become one.
Setting the Scene at Villa Cascade
Kristin and JB chose Villa Cascade for their wedding, and the name suits it perfectly. The villa sits up in the hillside overlooking Babalua Beach, with steps that flow down through the property in a series of cascading levels all the way to the sand. It gives a wedding day a natural sense of movement, from the top of the villa down to the water, and it meant we had a whole range of backdrops without ever leaving the property. For a small and intimate wedding like this one, that kind of layout is a gift. Everyone could move together easily, and there was no rushing around.
Bridal Beauty at the Villa
We started the photography coverage with Kristin, working through some bridal beauty portraits and she was joined by her daughter for some gorgeous mother-daughter moments too. The sky was overcast which creates a naturally soft, diffused light. This means it’s easier to keep eyes open for pictures when out in the open, and the images are gentle and warm without any harsh shadows to fight against.
Pre-Ceremony Photos
When JB came out and spotted Kristin for the first time in her lace gown, it was relaxed and a little impromptu, exactly the kind of first look that suits a couple who were not interested in anything staged. His daughters were right there for it, and they were pretty overcome with how stunning Kristin looked too. There were hugs all around as everyone greeted each other, and honestly, you could feel the love between everybody in that moment. It was the first real sign of the day of two families becoming one.
From there we moved into portraits with JB, working in the same spots we had used with Kristin so that everything would flow together should they create a wedding album. We used the greens and the water as our backdrop throughout, keeping that consistency. We photographed JB with his daughters, all three girls together, and then worked through every combination of the family group we had planned. We also allowed time for a villa and garden photos of the bride and groom on their own.
Vows by the Water
A beautiful circle flower arch was set up right at the edge of the water for the ceremony itself. Even in the diffused light from the clouds, the turquoise water we love in Turks and Caicos was shining through. After an intimate ceremony and exchange of vows, we proceeded to a full group photo followed by romantic couple shots on the beach once they were officially married. For a small wedding in Turks and Caicos with a setup like this, right on the water, with just family watching, is about as good as it gets.
Fireworks to Close It Out
As the sun started to go down, we headed back up the cascading steps to the top of the villa to finish out the evening’s photography. Kristin and JB had a grand finale planned with fireworks, and they were genuinely spectacular, a light show just for them. It was a fitting finish for a couple who had traveled all the way from Texas to make this day happen exactly the way they wanted it. After that, we left the family to enjoy a dinner together, taking in the views over Grace Bay as the night settled in.
Celebrating the Start of Married Life
Kristin and JB did not need a big production to make their wedding day meaningful. They needed their children and an island backdrop worthy of the moment, and Villa Cascade gave them all of that and more. Every part of the day reflected exactly what they came to Turks and Caicos to do: bring two families together as one.
