A Marriage Proposal at the Ritz Carlton Turks and Caicos
Richard is one of discriminating taste. So, when it came to deciding where and when to “pop the question” to his girlfriend Katelyn, there was no question in his mind. Because the moment was going to be in the winter month of January, the location had to be warm and preferably a tropical one. The Turks and Caicos had been on Richard’s mind for quite some time. Therefore, Providenciales was an easy choice. And of course, Grace Bay Beach was the obvious choice for the exact location. Richard wanted to try out the new Ritz Carlton.
My job was to blend in with the tourists on the beach, and then capture the moment discreetly. Richard had planned a dinner on the beach which is where he would get on a knee and ask Catelyn to marry him. More importantly he wanted the best Turks and Caicos professional photographer to document the proposal without Katelyn knowing what was happening. In order to do this, I arrived thirty minutes before the time he was to arrive. I had to hide all of my equipment on a beach chair under several towels.
A Proposal with an Unintended Audience
At precisely 4:30pm they both arrived and immediately sat down at the table. Richard was good at hiding what was going to happen. He took several selfies of the two of them, they made a toast thanks to the diligent service of their dedicated waiter, and then out of nowhere Richard drops to a knee, pulls out a huge diamond ring and asks Katelyn to marry him. Of course, she said yes. And then a loud sound of clapping and cheers erupts from all of the Ritz guests who happened to witness the entire event right in front of them. It was a very special moment for the both of them, especially the unexpected cheering from their unintended audience.
