Come Rain Come Shine
Turks and Caicos is the Best Location for a Destination Wedding
For many wedding couples who are planning a Caribbean destination wedding, the Turks and Caicos is a place to escape and marry in private. And that is exactly what Megan and Joe wanted from their intimate wedding at the West Bay Club. As a Turks and Caicos wedding photographer, I usually recommend to my clients to start their photography coverage at the preparation stage of their event so that I can create material that will tell their story from the beginning of their wedding day to the end. Megan agreed with my suggestion, and had me start shooting her preparations and Joe’s preparations. After covering the details of the dress, shoes and bouquet I took photos of just the bride and groom separately in their respective suites. Then I lead Megan through the garden area to the beach where Joe was anxiously waiting for his bride-to-be.
The ceremony was short yet very emotional. It ended with the lovely couple hugging and kissing under their wedding arch. This was an ideal opportunity for me to capture close up images of the two of them that would have been very difficult for me to pose or reenact. I then guided them to the shoreline where I asked them to walk up and down the beach so that I could capture some blue water and blue sky photos. Just before the sun sets, there is usually only one direction that has the blue water and blue sky; and that is the easterly facing part of the beach. As the sun sets in the west, the light in that direction is so bright that everything is in silhouette. After capturing some powerful blue water-blue sky and silhouette shots, I turned my attention to creating my favorite type of images- the sunset!!
Just two hours before the wedding, the skies were cloudy with rain. Well, the saying goes here in the Turks and Caicos, “if you don’t like the weather now then just wait fifteen minutes”. The weather cleared up around thirty minutes before the start of their event. And as is usually the case under these conditions, the sunset was spectacular, and so were Megan and Joe’s photos.
