Grace Bay Beach Engagement
When Angie and Mark booked their Caribbean vacation to the Turks and Caicos Islands, she knew they were coming for a full week of great relaxation. She didn’t realize she would also be going back home as a bride-to-be. It was so much fun coordinating with Mark and Keisha, his event planner, for the big surprise that would leave Mark’s girlfriend in tears.
It started with a phone call from Mark who wanted to book the best photographers on island. He’d already contacted Destination TCI to help in setting up the elaborate floral arrangements for his marriage proposal to the love of his life. It was easy working with Mark to come up with an idea that wouldn’t ruin the surprise but would also have his unsuspecting girlfriend ready for taking sunset photos on Grace Bay beach that evening. On the evening of their beach portrait session, we picked up the couple at the Royal West Indies Resort, as promised, then headed to a secluded beach for their photoshoot. Angie had no idea what was awaiting her…
The setup Keisha did on the beach was stunning. Red roses and tiki torches decorated the soft beach sand in the golden-hour sunlight. In the center stood a customized sign that Angie couldn’t yet read from a distance. It was only when Mark started pulling her toward the setup that she realized it was for her. The sign read “Angela, my love. Will you marry me?” She said yes, of course!
The conditions that day were perfect for beach portraits. The lovely red of the flower petals popped against the beach backdrop with turquoise water as the sun began setting. We captured all the candid moments of blushing, kissing, crying, and champagne toasting. With such a lovely setup, it was hard to not photograph the details too. They were such a fun and loving couple that it was a pleasure to be part of such a momentous occasion – a marriage proposal. After the proposal there was plenty of time for engagement photos too. It was like two photoshoots in one. The happy couple walked along the beach, cuddled up in the sand, and posed against the stunning sunset that seemed to be just for them. Even the twilight sky was a special purple hard to miss. Angie was quite possibly the happiest she’d ever been, and we were delighted to capture great photos of the moment for her to never forget. It was a pleasure, as always, working with Keisha of Destination TCI. We certainly can’t wait to capture more special occasions like this for our amazing clients.
